I was born in Cairns, Far North Queensland and except for the first four (4) years of my Primary School life which I spent in an isolated Town on the Atherton Tableland, I lived most of my early life in Cairns.

I went to School at St. Augustine’s College, Cairns and on completing schooling, went to the University of Queensland and earned a Bachelor of Human Movement Studies (Education) Degree. I then taught for five (5) years in the Queensland Department of Education as a physical education teacher.

In 1984, I left teaching and took up Articles of Clerkship whilst studying Law externally at night. After I completed my Law Degree in December 1989, I was admitted as a Partner to a large local firm and practiced in that firm for 5 years. I sold my share in that firm in 1995 and started practice at Kingscliff by myself and am now the longest, continuous serving Solicitor on the Tweed Coast.

I have been heavily involved in community activities in the local area. I was President of the Southern Gold Coast Chamber of Commerce for 7 years and headed the team that saw the rejuvenation of Coolangatta through its Main Street Project. On moving to Kingscliff, I became President of the Kingscliff Business Corporation which spearheaded the rejuvenation of Kingscliff, again under the Main Street Project.

I am the immediate past Chairman of the Tweed Economic Development Corporation Limited which is a public company set up to encourage economic development, employment, entrepreneurial activity and investment in the Tweed Shire and to advise the Tweed Shire Council on those issues.

I am the President of On-Track Community Services, a local charity which delivers many support services to special sectors of the local community. I am also the Honorary Solicitor for a large number of non profit organizations on the Tweed Coast and in the Tweed Heads areas. I have long associations with some of those organizations, some as long as 20 years.

I have the following qualifications:-

  1. Bachelor of Human Movement Studies (Education)
  2. Bachelor of Laws
  3. Master of Business Administration
  4. Admission as an Australian Legal Practitioner in the Queensland Supreme Court, New South Wales Supreme Court and High Court of Australia
  5. Justice of the Peace (Qualified), Queensland
  6. Notary Public

In my spare time, I like to cook as my family has a background in Restaurants. I also like to go camping and 4 wheel driving whenever time permits. When we do go 4 wheel driving, we like to go to remote places like the Simpson Desert which I’ve crossed many times. I am also an avid read and love gadgets.
